Book Review: “The Honest Truth” by Dan Gemeinhart

Mark has lived a life where choices and decisions are taken away from him. Most of his life has been spent in and out of hospitals and undergoing treatments for an illness. He decides to take back control and runs away, armed with a camera, a backpack of supplies, his camera and a journal filled with Haiku poems. Mark and his faithful companion, Beau (he’s such a good dog), set out to climb the top of Mount Rainier, no matter what the cost.

Dan Gemeinhart’s The Honest Truth is a story of the storm of fear, anger and internal storm that can often consume us all. But, no matter how dark the storm is “there is always the other side of the storm and the people who get you there.” The Honest Truth is a brilliant reminder to accept the kindness others are willing to give even when it hurts to receive it. Mark and Beau’s journey is one that will stick with you long after its conclusion, and that’s the truth.
